"The Dead Boy"

2001

Stephen headed a tremendously talented and highly lauded cast as Father Robert Sheridan in the U.S. premiere of Joe Pintauro's "The Dead Boy" (directed by Jack Heller). Loosely based on the Convenant House scandal which rocked the Catholic Church in the 1980s, The Dead Boy is the story of a crusading and charismatic priest's fall from grace amid allegations of sexual impropriety with a teenage boy in his charge. The play not only examines the complex forces which both drive and torment Father Sheridan, it also examines the actions and motivations of those who seek to both save and destroy him.
